Hi all!
Matty Pockets here. Recently, we’ve been getting a lot of questions about learning how to fire dance/fire spin. Well, instead of waiting for me or Gemini to get to your questions, here’s some of the most popular questions we’ve been getting, and their answers!
As I get more, or if you have a question you think should be on here, feel free to either ask it in the comments, or email us at info@controlledburnreno.com!
Q: What tools do I need? What do I need to bring? Do I need experience?
A: The only tools that you need initially, and the only thing you need to bring, is your willingness to learn, and a good attitude! We provide practice poi for you to start with, but if you want to make your own practice poi (which we suggest) so you can practice at home, we’ll teach you how! And as for experience, well….we all had to start somewhere, so let’s start here, shall we?
Q: Do I have to practice with poi?
A: No, no you do not! We currently teach poi, staff, and fingers/fans! We also teach fire safety, which you’ll be taught before you even start spinning any real fire.
If you have another tool that you want to learn…well…we’ll try our best to give advice!
Q: What’s the cost?
A: We humbly request a $5 donation for our classes, although it’s NOT required. But practice poi and practice staffs are rather cheap and not too expensive. Actual fire tools..well….those prices can vary wildly.
Q: Where are classes? What time are they?
A: While a somewhat silly question, see here for the details on class times and locations! Keep in mind, sometimes the schedule might change, so be sure to keep an eye out on the front page at all times! OR just check our handy calendar.
Q: Are classes/practice still going on?
A: If I could face-palm, I would be right now. Actually, I think I just did, haha. Check out the calendar to see when classes go until, or if a class/practice is canceled! We won’t leave ya hangin’ by yourself, so we’ll always give front-page (and calendar) warnings as to when class/practice times change, or if they’re canceled.
The calendar can be found here!
