Local Fire Arts Photographers Donate Their Wares

Controlled Burn was honored to be able to display 23 fantastic fire arts photographs at Dreamer's Cafe in downtown Reno, from June 5th through July 31st!   A true community endeavor, Doug over at Great Basin Color & Conservation worked with us on getting the pictures printed and mounted and looking stunning and amazing on canvas. If you did not make it down to Dreamer's for this stunning display, check out our Virtual Gallery to see the prints.

The artists were initially approached to see if they would like to be showcased. We told them that we'd love to showcase their work, and for them to select one, two, or three of THEIR favorite representations of their work involving fire. We were also, thanks to the help of Scorch from Trick Concepts, able to include some of the work from their photo contest. We asked them if it was okay to sell their work, based on their preference. The answer to this question did not affect their inclusion in the show. Our goal was to get lots of people to see how talented these folks are! If they didn't want their photo's sold, that was okay too, they just needed to let us know. Prints that are not sold will be offered back to the artist first, if the artist doesn't want them, they will be offered to the subjects, if the subjects don't want them, we will try to find places to donate them in the Arts/Burning Man/local community.

All of them offered to let us sell their work. During the gallery showing we were able to sell THREE of the FIVE we needed to sell to cover the cost of having them printed. The others are still available for $200/each. If you check out the virtual gallery and know there is something you can't live without, feel free to contact gemini (at) controlledburnreno (dot) com. We can arrange for shipping if necessary, although local is preferred, and we can also accept Paypal. The goal of this project was never to make money, but to showcase the art.

The Shiva Vista Project is a multi-year project, please visit that website http://www.shivavista.com to see what we are up to with regards to this awesome project. We again thank everyone who made it awesome, who came to spin fire or had other special moments performing there, and we'll see you next year, if not before!

  Controlled Burn Appreciates Local Artist
  Support!!

THANK YOU Truckee Meadows photographers for coming out to
support Controlled Burn and being willing to share your considerable
talent with us. Our own Pat Herz (link opens in new window) has
been snapping Controlled Burn most of this year, and that link is to
his Flickr site. We have also heard from David Guntner (link opens in
new window) who's gotten some amazing shots, and also Severio Cine
(link opens in new window) who snapped a bunch of pics from the
DaDa Motel opener. Controlled Burn encourages everyone to visit
these fabulous artists, look at their pictures, say "hi" to them if you
see them at our shows, and please admire their magnificent talent.
Controlled Burn thanks you and we tip our hat to you in sincere
gratitude and thanks! If you'd like to be added to the above list
or have snapped photos of Controlled Burn, we'd love to hear from
you! Please contact Gemini and she will arrange to get your
  photos/footage from you.

This Winter, News Channel 4 visited Controlled Burn, and did a piece on us. Check it out! Thanks so much to Isa Isaacs (Temple of Poi), for obtaining this footage and allowing us to be a part of it!
